CONCERT BAND
Streamwood High School has one Concert Band that meets daily as a part of each student's schedule. Concert Band is a performance-oriented ensemble aimed at teaching complete musicianship through the study of quality band literature and chamber music. Students in Concert Band will learn performance skills, ensemble techniques, music theory, music history, composition, as well as the relationship between music and other disciplines. Students in Concert Band are required to perform at all concerts, including at least three band concerts, a chamber music concert, concert band festival, and any other performances or competitions. Students are also encouraged to participate in the annual Solo and Ensemble Festival, audition for ILMEA, as well as participate in the school orchestra winds section and school musical. In the Fall, all Concert Band students participate in the Sabre Marching Band, while in the Spring, all students participate in the Sabre Pep Band.
SABRE MARCHING BAND
The Sabre Marching Band is the most visible performing unit at Streamwood High School, as we perform at all home Varsity football games. Additionally we perform in a variety of parades and competitions around the area. The marching band program is quickly growing and working towards becoming a high-level, competitive ensemble!
SABRE PEP BAND
The Sabre Pep Band is comprised of all members of the SHS Band program. This band performs at most home basketball games, providing fun tunes and lively cheers to keep the crowd engaged and the team ready to do their best!
SABRE JAZZ ENSEMBLE
The Sabre Jazz Ensemble is a performance-oriented ensemble designed for any students who are interested in learning to play jazz music. All instruments are welcome to join, but the students must be able to read standard sheet music. The Jazz Ensemble meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school from 3-4:30pm, and performs at several events each year.
