Dear SHS Band Families,
The SHS Band Program is about to begin our Spring Fundraiser. This year we are raising funds for the students to participate in the Music in the Parks Festival held Saturday May 3rd, 2014 at Warren Township High School and ending up at Six Flags Great America. Many schools throughout the country will be competing in this festival, which will culminate in an awards ceremony held at Six Flags.
Students will need to raise at least $75 in order to be able to pay admission to the festival and pay for transportation. If students raise more than the minimum required, they can use the remaining money as “entertainment” money for food, games, and souvenirs in the park. Furthermore, if students fundraise a large amount of money, all extra funds will go in to their accounts, and can be used for other trips and materials.
Students have two options to pay for this trip; they can either pay for the cost of the trip themselves, or fundraise for it. Ideally, every student will fundraise enough money to be able to go on this trip for free. To accomplish this we are holding two fundraisers in one. The first fundraiser is the sale of Candy Bars, which the students will be selling in and out of school. The second fundraiser is a catalogue for students, teachers, parents, and community members to order out of. This catalogue has a tremendous variety of items, and is a great way for students to gain funds quickly.
Ultimately we need to raise over $2,550 for this trip ($2,000 for participation fee, and about $550 for transportation). Therefore, I encourage students and parents to sell to neighbors, family members, teachers, and coworkers. Furthermore, anyone can support the band program at anytime and from anywhere by visiting our fundraising website here .
This is going to be a tremendous opportunity for the students, and a great way for people to show support for the band program here at SHS.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
Mr. Geller
